She was the first Canadian author to win a big international literary prize. She wrote a popular 16-volume series about a dynastic Ontario family and had sold 11 million books in 93 languages by the time she died in 1961. She lived at various addresses in Toronto, including 157 Dunn Ave. in Parkdale.

Who was she? Mazo de la Roche, who is the subject of our next Extraordinary Women event, presented by Back Lane Studios in partnership with the Revue. Filmmaker Maya Gallus will introduce her impressive documentary The Mystery of Mazo de la Roche, and discuss the author’s life and work.
